Heat pumps

Daikin altherma

The heat pump technology is the future for domestic heat production. It is clean, functional, efficient and over the next years, its economic advantage over traditional fuel systems will do nothing but increase. The reason heat pumps are so advantageous is that they produce more energy than they consume. This means that for every kWh you pay to the electrical utility, you get three to five kWh of thermal energy for your home.

Because of their efficiency, heat pumps contribute to the reduction of CO2 emissions. This had lead the European parliament (December 2008) to expand the definition of renewable energy source to include air source heat pumps.

The region of Alicante is ideal for heat pumps. Places like Calpe, Moraira and Altea rarely present under zero temperatures, allowing these systems to be highly efficient. At Solar Power Systems we can help you in choosing the best solution.

Can heat pumps cool as well as heat?
Yes. Many heat pumps can reverse their internal process and take excess heat from the home or office and transport it outside.

Are heat pumps good for the environment?
Yes. Heat pumps are a significant improvement with respect traditional fossil fuel solutions. If the source of the electricity they is renewable, they make no contribution CO2 emissions nor produce any other type of contamination.

Can I use solar panels together with a heat pump?
Yes you can. There are heat pumps that can be integrated with solar panels. This way the heat pump only runs when the energy generated by the solar panels is insufficient for your heating needs. The drain-back configuration for the solar panels are optimal for integration with heat pumps.

Are heat pumps loud?
No. They make a similar noise to an air conditioning unit. Heat pump technology has advanced to the point where excess noise is kept to an absolute minimum.

Can I use a heat pump at home?
The energy from the heat pump can be used for heating in multiple ways:

    * Underfloor heating
    * Low temperature radiators
    * Traditional radiators

This means the piping for centralized home heating should be present before you can take advantage of a heat pump.

Is a heat pump the best solution for me?
If your home currently has or is prepared for centralized heating through radiators and/or underfloor heating, the use of a heat pump may be the best solution for you. It will be the cheapest and safest way to produce heat for your home, and is more respectful to the environment than any other solution.
